Amber Fort (Amer Fort) is a UNESCO World Heritage hilltop citadel 11 km north of Jaipur, built by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 CE. Its red sandstone ramparts, Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors) and ornate Ganesh Pol gateway blend Rajput and Mughal artistry at its finest.
The fort's hilltop setting above Maota Lake made it militarily impregnable. The Sheesh Mahal's ceiling is covered in thousands of tiny mirrors that create a starry effect from a single candle flame — one of the most photographed interiors in Rajasthan.
Open 8:00 AM–5:30 PM daily. Entry ₹100 (Indians), ₹500 (Foreigners). Light & Sound Show: 7:30 PM (Hindi) and 8:30 PM (English).
11 km from central Jaipur. Take a cab, auto-rickshaw or bus No. 5 from MI Road (~30 minutes). Elephant rides available seasonally.
October to March for cool weather (15–25°C). Arrive by 8:30 AM for golden morning light and thin crowds.
